At the heart of this proposal is a central spine composed of two levels. The upper level, the Street-Plaza, is a
quasi-interior space which is not mechanically conditioned. It is open and expansive to maximize the social
interaction of all students. Students enter this central space first before breaking into the six academies,
whose entrances face the plaza. On the lower level are the public spaces that are shared by the different academies
(Cafeteria, Media Center, Shared Core Spaces, and Administration). Courtyards containing staircases and bleacher-like
seats for informal assembly link these two levels of the central spine. The main public entrance is from the West,
providing direct access to the Auditorium, Physical Education and Media Areas. The bus drop-off is from the East on
axis with the Street-Plaza.
